Objectives of the Speech Club:
1-
The students will evaluate themselves
and their peers in a friendly and fun environment
a.
this will give them ways to
express their opinions and practice projecting their thoughts during club
sessions
2-
The students will learn to
accept constructive criticism and use it as a way for self improvement.
3-
The students will explore their
strengths and weaknesses of public speaking skills.
4-
The students will learn how
to stand confidently in front of an audience and project their voice, use eye contacts,
and act like the leaders of tomorrow.
5-
Student will learn the steps
to create an interactive PowerPoint presentation
6-
Student will have 5-10 mins
free time to use the computer and play a game on the internet or do whatever
they like as long as they respected the rules of the club.
What did the students learn?

Week 1
|
• Students signed the contract
to participate in the process of evaluating themselves and their peers by a
smile and BIG hi-5.
• Students expressed their
interest to be leaders, presidents, kings, and queens and learn to give great
speeches.
• Students learned that the
first step to give an effective speech is through choosing a topic that he or
she likes the most and an idea that they believe in.
• Students talked about their
fears when talking in front of a new audience.
• Student learned few
techniques to lessen their anxiety while talking to an audience.
• Student evaluated each others
in terms of the use of eye contacts, right posture and voice projection.

Week 2
|
•The theme of week was “ I have
a dream”
•Each student gave a quick
speech about his/her dream.
•Students did a great job
standing in front of the camera presenting their thoughts and wishes.
•A student read Quran beautifully
and others sang wonderfully.
•Their speeches were recorded
and then played and critiqued by classmates.
•Students were accepting critiques
and applying it to improve their speeches

Week3
|
• Students helped each other to establish
reasons behind their dreams, Why did they choose that dream?
• Students promised to work on their salah
over the week
• Salah will help them to have a better self-control and empower them. It was a greed over the fact that if they
can stand up before Allah , the creator of the whole universe, and give a speech “doaa/prayers”, why ever would they be afraid to stand before his creation.
• Students also promised to obey and listen
to their parents. This also will help them to practice the skill of listening, which is the first and most important skill of an effective speaker.
